On another website who offer a paid-for product to learn touch typing state that for an average person it will take 10 -15 hours practice to be able to touch type slowly, it will then take another 30 hours to reach approximately 25 words a minute. Apparently, this is dependant on the amount of time that you spend practicing and your level of determination. It can then take anything up to 2 or 3 months to reach 40 words per minute which is the average typing speed.
